ADVANTAGES AND ENVIRONMENTAL BENEFITS OF THE WASTE TREATMENT SYSTEM PROPOSED

  • High recycling rates.

  • Energy saving.

  • Reduction of CO2 emissions.

  • Electric Power Generation Plant for consumption and/or sale.

  • Thermal energy to be used in the fermentation process, drying of MSW if necessary, air conditioning in industrial building and offices, etc.

  • Getting biofertilizer as a byproduct of the biogas plant, for use in gardening and/or agriculture.

  • The proposed plants solve the problem of hazardous leachates, making environmental benefits because they are an excellent raw material for the production of biogas.

  • These plants increase the lifetime of the landfill by multiplying it by 3.

  • Possibility of "upgrading" Landfill Gas to achieve the characteristics of a natural gas CH4> 95% and use it as fuel for public/private transport, or bottled for domestic use.

  • The proposed plants are a contribution to reducing global greenhouse effect, thus reducing the impact of climate change.

COMPLIANCE DECEMBER 2015 PARIS AGREEMENTS ON CLIMATE CHANGE

The Environmental Impact in relation to climate change and the Paris Agreements December 2015 is totally positive for:

Reduction of energy generated with fossil fuels and associated CO2 emissions, generating green and renewable energy from biomass through the generation of biogas from the anaerobic fermentation of the organic fraction.

By not pouring the organic fraction of Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) into landfills CH4 emissions into the atmosphere are avoided that, from the point of view of climate change 1 Ton CH4 = 23 Tons of CO2 equivalent.

Production of bio-fertilizer compost from the organic fraction, saving the energy needed and CO2 emissions associated to the production of synthetic fertilizers.

Savings from recovering recyclable materials plastics, glass, metals, cardboard, paper, etc., instead of manufacturing them, using fossil fuel energy and avoiding also the CO2 emissions associated with it.
